Boujaad Rugs

The collection

Boujaad rugs come from the small city of the same name in the Khouribga province of central Morocco, where Amazigh women have been weaving them for generations as dowry pieces and family heirlooms. They are recognisable by their warm palette of deep reds, blush pinks, and burnt oranges, and by the way no two are ever the same. Each design is drawn freehand from memory, with symbols and shapes that belong to the weaver alone. The result is something between a rug and a portrait.
